VS: Además de este proyecto en el que estas a punto de participar ¿estás al tanto de las iniciativas que se vienen llevando a cabo en Venezuela para presentar la Ópera en diversos formatos?

Sí he visto que se han estado haciendo varias óperas en distintos formatos y eso me alegra porque hace mucha falta, algunos proyecto los he seguido y se que al menos intentan hacerlo semi-stage. También estuve al tanto de la Ópera que hicieron en Carora, algo que parecía impensable pero lo hicieron realidad, participó la comunidad y varios artistas no cobraron con tal de hacer la Ópera y eso me parece maravilloso.

Sé que en Caracas se han llevado a cabo varios esfuerzos titánicos y heroicos a mi manera de verlo, porque sé que las cosas no están fáciles en Venezuela. Creo que hay varías maneras fórmulas para mantener la Ópera activa, con todo y el hecho de los altos costos que representa producir una ópera, pero nosotros los venezolanos somos lo suficientemente creativos y podemos superar todos los obstáculos que nos salgan.

VS: Cantar con la Ópera Gala Caracas te permitirá también trabajar con la Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar y la Coral Nacional Simón Bolívar, bajo la dirección del joven maestro Andrés David Ascanio quien es un excelente director. Imagino que eso para ti también tienen un significado especial.

Siempre que voy a trabajar con alguna de las orquestas o de las agrupaciones de El Sistema o con cualquier tipo de proyecto de esta institución, para mí representa el volver a casa y siempre es un gran placer. Sé que los últimos años no han sido fáciles para la institución, pero con más razón aún hay que seguir adelante y yo lo hago encantado de la vida porque es mi casa.

VS: Además te darás cuenta del talento joven que ha ingreso tanto a la orquesta como a la coral y el director es excelente.

No lo dudo y eso me emociona. El Sistema esta iniciando una nueva etapa sin el maestro José Antonio Abreu, entonces es importante que se constituyan y se fortalezcan los pilares que siguen dando continuidad a este gran proyecto, es algo que yo agradezco.

VS: ¿Cuáles otros proyectos tienes entre tus planes llevar a cabo en Venezuela?

Tengo muchos en mente, pero para cada uno debo conseguir el momento adecuado, como la creación a largo plazo de un sistema educativo. También quisiera trabajar en la unificación de la red de compañías productoras de teatro, lo que permitirá aumentar los shows y el número de obras de trabajo si se hacen en conjunto, por eso la idea es unificar y buscar la manera de trabajar en equipo.

Además quisiera trabajar en la creación de una escuela de formación de canto lírico pero con visión moderna y de vanguardia. En Venezuela hay talento en todos lados, es increíble el potencial de nuestros cantantes, pero hay que ayudar a que ese talento no se pierda, se desarrolle y sobre todo hay que ayudarlo a que cruce la frontera.

En Venezuela también quisiera seguir cantando, todavía me quedan muchos proyectos por llevar a cabo en mi propio país.

Que bueno que lo mencionas porque Nosotros estamos trabajando en un nuevo volumen  de la Canción de Venezuela, que vendría siendo el tercero y que en esta edición será más íntimo. Tenemos muchas sorpresas preparadas en esta grabación que posiblemente estará disponible en enero de 2020.
