“Compongo mi música a través de la geometría y para ello solo utilizó un compás y una regla, es un sistema que yo inventé por el cual una matriz de hexágonos se convierte en mi lienzo por dónde voy a escribir las notas musicales, en pocas palabras le puedo poner música a cualquier objeto que quiera, obteniendo los mejores resultados”, explicó Aureo Puerta Carreño, quien dirige la Academia de Música Carreño en Weston, EEUU (Carreño Music Academy) y que sueña con abrir sedes en Caracas, Miranda y en el edo. “Matemáticamente este plano basado en hexágonos regulares es solo una demostración más de aplicaciones matemáticas, donde se estructura y se comunican nuevas formas de componer y escuchar música, que curiosamente va más allá de contar. Las diferentes figuras geométricas que forman este conteo musical son infinitas, bellas y relajantes. Es cierto que la matemática es la base de la música y permite escucharla de una forma tan armoniosa”, enfatizó la profesora de matemática Paola Enciso quien trabaja para la Universidad de Florida y Broward.

“Otro punto muy importante que parte del método de Aureo Puerta Carreño tiene que ver lo referente a la enseñanza de la matemática, pero impartiendo las clases utilizando la música como recurso, desarrollando la inteligencia musical que poseen varios niños y que muchos padres desconocen”, agregó la experta.

Su tío, Gregory Carreño, uno de los miembros fundadores del Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela, considera que “el universo de los sonidos, las matemáticas y la geometría conviven de manera estrecha, compacta y hasta con un toque muy particular de simpatía y complicidad, convirtiéndose en un trinomio monolito que acompañan e iluminan nuestra existencia. Los sonidos viajan en el espacio con diferentes formas geométricas, por lo tanto pueden ser calculados sus segmentos y distancias con fórmulas matemáticas. Pitágoras cuando inventó el monocordio pensó en fórmulas geométricas para que una cuerda extendida pudiese producir diferentes sonidos”.
El guitarrista Jesús Serrano Huitron, considerado uno de los mejores del mundo, afirmó que “en el trabajo de Aureo Puerta Carreño la proporción establece los parámetros de la belleza replicada en patrones geométricos, que al estar bien definidos no incitan al exceso de razonamiento ni a la concepción distorsionada de la realidad, en este caso, de la obra musical”.
