El pasado lunes 22 de julio, uno de los lugares más espectaculares de Vietri sul Mare: la Villa Comunale, un lugar abierto al cielo y al mar con diversas terrazas y plazas adornadas con la colorida cerámica típica del lugar, recibió en su anfiteatro a la Orquesta Sinfónica Mozart con sede en Cervinara y representada por el Fagot Solista y Director del Mozarteum Italia, Luciano Corona.
En esta ocasión la orquesta contaría con la participación del reconocido violonchelista Giuliano De Angelis y la batuta del director venezolano Gerardo Estrada Martínez. La prensa local escribió antes del concierto “.. La presencia de Martínez genera curiosidad a los amantes de la música clásica : Nacido en Caracas en 1980,el Maestro venezolano es uno de los directores emergentes que más está atrayendo la atención a nivel internacional..”
Con estas grandes expectativas, el concierto contó con un lleno total. La orquesta hizo vibrar al público interpretando obras del gran repertorio como la Obertura “Las Bodas de Fígaro” de W.A. Mozart, las Obertura de “El Barbero de Sevilla” y “La Italiana en Argel”, ambas de G. Rossini y el Intermezzo de la “Cavalleria Rusticana” de P. Mascagni.

El plato fuerte del concierto, sin embargo, lo constituyó el Concierto para Violoncello y Orquesta número 1 de C.Saint-Saens, donde el solista Gioliano De Angelis entregó una interpretación apasionada e impecable del romántico concierto. Ante los múltiples aplausos, el cellista italiano anunció como regalo, un pequeño homenaje al compositor Ennio Morricone, con la transcripción para cello y cuerdas de la célebre pieza “El Oboe de Gabriel” de la Band Sonora de la película “La Misión”.
Al final del concierto las autoridades locales reconocieron el trabajo de los músicos y entregaron un reconocimiento a De Angelis y a Estrada. La opinión ante la actuación del venezolano fue muy positiva, tanto por parte del público presente, la crítica especializada, y los músicos, quienes mostraron su entusiasmo y empatía con el Maestro Estrada y manifestaron su deseo de verle pronto, de nuevo por tierras italianas.
