Este concierto ofrece una selección de madrigales de los más importantes compositores venezolanos de música coral, los cuales están basados en hermosos poemas de grandes poetas venezolanos e iberoamericanos.
Precisamente unas líneas escritas por la maestra Guinand, nos da la perfecta idea de la significación del Madrigal Venezolano:
“Con el nacimiento del Orfeón Lamas y la creación de la Cátedra de Composición (1936) bajo la tutela del Maestro Sojo en la Escuela Superior de Música José Ángel Lamas, se desarrolló una activa generación de compositores corales, quienes trabajaron sobre poemas selectos de los mejores poetas iberoamericanos, tomando como ejemplo las normas del contrapunto imitativo del madrigal italiano, al cual le imprimieron un sello personal, en muchos casos incluyendo elementos provenientes de nuestro folklore y de la música popular. La obra coral de esta Escuela Nacionalista es de una riquísima variedad temática y estilística. Algunos madrigales son bucólicos y pastoriles, otros evocan los paisajes del llano y del mar, otros se caracterizan por el refinado humor y la jocosidad venezolana”

La Schola en este concierto prestará sus voces para escuchar las hermosas composiciones de Sojo, Plaza, Castellanos, Carreño, Bor, Sauce, Estévez, Moleiro, Sauce y Calcaño inspiradas en poemas de grandes poetas como Andrés Eloy Blanco, Rubén Darío, Pablo Neruda, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Manuel Felipe Rugeles, Alberto Arvelo Torrealba, Juan Beróes, Pérez Bonalde, Paz Castillo, Luis Barrios Cruz, Enrique Planchart, Rafael Borges y Jacinto Fombona Pachano.
Para completar el ambiente de la época en la que fueron escritas estas joyas de la literatura musical venezolana, hemos hecho una hermosa selección de obras de destacados pintores venezolanos, las cuales forman parte de la colección de la Galería de Arte Nacional.
Este concierto es un encuentro con las raíces de nuestro gentilicio, un homenaje a los héroes civiles que han construido nuestra venezolanidad. Los esperamos en este maravilloso paseo por la poesía y la música de nuestra identidad.
